The 10th India Maize Summit marked a significant milestone in strengthening the maize value chain in India.
Date: September 25, 2024 | Location: FICCI, New Delhi
At this year’s summit, Session 4 focused on the Public-Private Partnership for Agriculture Value Chain Development (PPPAVCD) and enhancing the Post-Harvest Infrastructure for the Maize Value Chain. Maize, being a key crop for both economic growth and nutritional security, requires an integrated approach to value chain development and robust post-harvest management.
The PPPAVCD initiative, with FICCI-FEED as the Program Management Unit (PMU), is revolutionizing the maize ecosystem by improving smallholder farmers’ incomes. This is achieved through the provision of quality inputs, extension of technology, market linkages, and value addition. By converging government schemes with private sector investments, we aim to scale up the maize value chain and strengthen post-harvest infrastructure.
Shri Baskar S Reddy, FEED Board Member, moderated the session, underlining the importance of mechanization and post-harvest efficiency to reduce losses and enhance farmers’ livelihoods. Mr. TR Kesavan, Group President of TAFE, spoke about the critical role of mechanization, while Mr. Samuel Praveen Kumar, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, delivered a special address and visited FEED’s stall to explore the PPPAVCD program.
Notable Speakers:
Together, we are building a resilient future for maize farmers, enhancing yields, increasing incomes, and ensuring food security.
