We are delighted to share that our Managing Trustee, Mr. Suryamani Roul, recently participated in an engaging Panel Discussion on Agri-Photovoltaics Policy & Convergence Pathways during the 𝐒𝐮𝐧𝐊𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢 𝐀𝐏𝐕 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 in Bhubaneswar, a session moderated by none other than Prof. Ashok Gulati.
Our gratitude to Passing Gifts for organising this crucial summit, which was inaugurated by 𝐒𝐡𝐫𝐢 𝐊𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐤 𝐕𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐡 𝐃𝐞𝐨, Hon’ble Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Energy, Government of Odisha.
Why Agri-Photovoltaics matters?
APV offers a transformative opportunity for India’s farmers, especially smallholders (𝟖𝟎% 𝐨𝐟 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐚𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲), to generate solar power alongside crop cultivation, effectively 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 “𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐫𝐝 𝐜𝐫𝐨𝐩” 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦.
One of the key highlights of the summit was Odisha’s first community-led Agri-Photovoltaics pilot in Koraput, launched with technical guidance from ICRIER. This pioneering initiative integrates solar generation with traditional cropping to:
✅ Improve land-use efficiency
✅ Reduce farmers’ vulnerability
✅ Empower tribal smallholders through the convergence of clean energy and agriculture
A big step towards sustainable livelihoods and climate-smart farming!
